Miami is home to many homegrown legends. From the Salsa queen Celia Cruz to the Miami-sms of Pitbull, the 305 is known for creating legendary artists, musicians, planners, and designers.

Celia Cruz

Celia was a Cuban singer and the most popular Latin artist of the 20th century, gaining twenty-three gold albums during her career.

Mary Brickell

Founder of the Brickell neighborhood, In 1873, a typhoid fever epidemic struck. Mary turned the Brickells’ home into a hospital and used the skills she learned as a nurse during the Civil War to treat settlers and Native Americans alike.

Julia Tuttle

Known as the mother of Miami, ulia DeForest Tuttle was an American businesswoman who was largely responsible for, and the original owner of, the land upon which Miami, Florida, was built.

Pitbull

Known worldwide as Mr.305, Pitbull is perhaps one of the most widely recognized Miami legends. From performing to Miami suburbs to Grammy shows, Pitbull exemplifies the Cuban American dream.

Known for her time in the Miami Sound Machine, Estefan’s music is Miami’s go-to soundtrack.

Two Live Crew

Producing a string of albums throughout the 1980s and ‘90s, the group was a main fixture of Miami’s early hip-hop scene.
